Abstract
The survey research method was adopted for the conduct of the study for which questionnaires, interviews and observation were used to collect data. It was discovered however, that most of the libraries investigated depended on purchase as means of acquiring record management skill. This consequently, led to the inadequate provision of relevant record management skill which resulted in the provision of ineffective services, expected of a public library. On the basis of these findings, several recommendations aimed at improving the availability and utilization of record management skill and services in the public libraries of the Ekiti state Nigeria have been proposed.
